The World To Ourselves

from $25.00

In "The World To Ourselves" we see a couple that find themselves in a seemingly vacant Manhattan.

I painted this piece for my wife, and thought a lot about our time together during Covid while I painted. We already spent a lot of time with each other before, as we both work from home. But, like so many people in this world, we found ourselves grief stricken during the first year. Both of our dogs died that we had for 17 and 14 years. It was the hardest year of our lives; restrictions and having Covid when our oldest was put down didn't help. (Read no grief eating- or at least not tasting it)

When I look at this painting I think of all the dark times of that year, but, also, how we found some luminosity in each other. It's nice to spend this much time together and still enjoy each other's company like no other.

Painting depicts a couple in New York on a romantic night in monochromatic purple. Dreamy night scene in manhattan that reminds us of old movies, midmod couple in snow covered central park with trees before wonderful architecture. The couple stands in the middle of a lamplit path on a cold winter night. The purple is very close to Pantone’s color of the year “Veri Peri.”
