These works are emblematic of the quality I bring to each portrait. While I have mostly received commissions for animals, I am adept at drawing and painting people as well; as you may see in my main body of work.
Please take a look and send me any questions that come to mind.
I am looking forward to working with you!
Rory (Commissioned Work)
Rory is a Duck Tolling Retriever. A gorgeous dog with intense eyes. Drawing in black and white proved to be a bit challenging because of the light color and uniformity of his coat. But I loved drawing him, and I think the finished product turned out very well. Click here to see the image from which this was drawn.
This was painted with oil on a 12” x 12” wood panel.
Keaton is a beautiful dog that is into everything outdoors. We chose an image of Keaton where he’s in his life vest covered in sand and looking to jump on something else right out of view of the camera.
I think this captured his personality perfectly. I always ask what sort of personality an animal has when we begin our piece. It helps me to see that in the image and pull it out. It also helps me to guide you in what image might be the best one to use as our starting point.
She’s 17 years old this year. I’m cherishing every day I get with her. She has arthritis that has fused half of her back, but she’s never been one to let on when pain is nagging at her. She lays on her bed and I can see shocks of pain run through her as her head twitches, but most mornings (especially if it’s cool outside,) she comes bounding in like she’s a puppy. She gets in her chair beside our bed every night and looks out at the lights across the valley. I’ve never met a dog that loves a view like her.

This drawing was done in charcoal and ink on paper.
Gibson is a beautiful Persian cat with a typical beautiful Persian cat personality. I think this shows in his eyes.
Hens for Russell Gale
I think this portrait sums up Iris’s little personality perfectly. Bows in her hair, laying on a satin pillow, staring out at the neighborhood; when she’s not humoring her owner for yet another picture.
